Empowering Livelihoods of Tribals Through Poultry Farming
Shri Shital Mankar So Shri Chainuram Mankar is a tribal young entrepreneur from Khaira village of Daundilohara block under Balod district of Chhattisgarh State. After postgraduation he was struggling to earn a stable income through job hunting and preparing for competitive exams. His father is an agriculturist and the family was completely dependent upon income from the crop production. However the limited livelihood opportunity in his village did not stop him to recapitulate his capacity to start as an entrepreneur. A small business of poultry adjacent to his village ushered him to the path of an entrepreneur. He enquired about the financial assistance available with the office of NSTFDC’s SCA i.e. Chhattisgarh Rajya Antyavasayee Sahkari Vitta Aivam Vikas Nigam CRASVAVN and with active support from the office he availed a loan of Rs. 5 lakhs. Currently he is earning more than Rs.1.10 lakh per month from wholesale of poultry birds and eggs. He is now a role model in his village for starting an enterprise at an young age. The funding support of NSTFDC along with training from local institutions gave the entrepreneurial push to him of starting a small poultry farm. This resulted into creation of a selfreliant entrepreneur who has over time with hard work led to increased income better living conditions and financial independence. Today he supplies poultry to local markets inspiring others in their community to adopt sustainable farming. His journey showcases the power of skill development and selfreliance in transforming lives of the tribal community.
